So, kind of a surprise for us (we were betting on favourite Ralph & Russo), Meghan Markle wore a custom Givenchy wedding dress which she designed with the first female head designer of the brand Clare Waight Keller.  British Waight Keller created a surprisingly simple, yet elegant classic wedding dress with bateau neckline, long sleeves, drop waist, and regal veil to match.

Per the official statement from the Palace:

"Ms. Markle and Ms. Waight Keller worked closely together on the design. The dress epitomises a timeless minimal elegance referencing the codes of the iconic House of Givenchy and showcasing the expert craftsmanship of its world-renowned Parisian couture atelier founded in 1952.
True to the heritage of the house, the pure lines of the dress are achieved using six meticulously placed seams. The focus of the dress is the graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasises the slender sculpted waist. The lines of the dress extend towards the back where the train flows in soft round folds cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza. The slim three-quarter sleeves add a note of refined modernity."

With her transition into the Royal Family, Meghan's veil also carried a special meaning in the beautiful embroidery work. "Ms. Markle expressed the wish of having all 53 countries of the Commonwealth with her on her journey through the ceremony. Ms. Waight Keller designed a veil representing the distinctive flora of each Commonwealth country united in one spectacular floral composition,"

Meghan, now the Duchess of Sussex, opted for a more Hollywood look for her evening reception at Frogmore House.  Wearing a Bespoke silk crepe halter neck dress by Stella McCartney. Styled with an aquamarine ring, an heirloom of Princess Diana's, gifted to Meghan by Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle completed her royal look with Queen Mary's Diamond Bandeau Tiara, loaned by The Queen. The tiara sat on the Duchess’s elegant chignon which was created by hairstylist, Serge Normant.  The Diamond Bandeau Tiara, was made in 1932 and is made from diamonds and platinum.  The centre brooch dating back to 1893. The bandeau is formed as a flexible band of eleven sections, pierced with interlaced ovals and pavé set with large & small brilliant diamonds. The centre is set with a detachable brooch of 10 brilliant diamonds.

The tiara was first given as a present to then Princess Mary in 1893 by the County of Lincoln on her marriage to Prince George, Duke of York. The bandeau and the brooch were bequeathed by Queen Mary to The Queen in 1953.

Markle also received a traditional gold wedding band made from the royal family’s personal collection of Welsh gold— the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II, & Kate Middleton all have similar wedding bands made of Welsh gold.

So we were going to talk about the stunning floral arches and arrangements created by  created by London-based florist Philippa Craddock, but did you hear the sentimental story around Meghan's demure bouquet?

Kensington Palace released a statement announcing that  the groom himself picked flowers to be including himself on the day before the wedding - swoon!  "Prince Harry handpicked several flowers yesterday from their private garden at Kensington Palace to add to the bespoke bridal bouquet designed by florist Philippa Craddock. The spring blooms include Forget-Me-Nots which were Diana, Princess of Wales’ favourite flower. The couple specifically chose them to be included in Ms. Markle’s bouquet to honour the memory of the late Princess on this special day."

We are giving a major shout out to Amal Clooney, who rocked a daffodil yellow dress by Stella McCartney with a dramatic back tie, styled with a matching hat by Stephen Jones with a flattering netted veil.

Other honourable mentions go to Jacinda Barrett, wife of Meghan's former Suits co-star Gabriel Macht who wore a burgundy Emilia Wickstead dress with Philip Treacy veiled hat. Lady Kitty Spencer in a green floral dress by Dolce & Gabbana, styled with orange heels, & a green fascinator and James Blunt's wife Sofia in an embroidered Valentino dress.

The Kiss, of course!
