Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
Stu and I met out one night in Sunday, about 7 years ago. I was living up there for work and he was in town playing some shows. We instantly really adored each other and have been in love and inseparable ever since!
How did he put a ring on it?
Stu proposed at hanging rock back in February 2018. We were having a really lovely day together and then all of a sudden, between eating lunch and chatting, he popped the question! He very sweetly organised for my best friend to hide in the bushes and jump out with bottles of champagne when he gave the signal. It was so special and fun!
Where did you draw inspiration from?
We both wanted the day to feel like a country wedding and to feel very much relaxed and in amongst nature. We were married underneath a magnificent old oak tree down by the river and that area has been a place the Wurundjeri people have been getting married for centuries. I was also inspired by English country weddings and the rustic, simple and fun vibe they seem to have down to a fine art.
What was your wedding theme & style?
Beautiful, whimsical and relaxed. Stu and I are both very relaxed and easy going people, so we wanted our wedding to reflect that. I’ve also always loved how the English do weddings and how beautiful an English country wedding is, so tried to theme and style it around that idea. Lots of greenery and white wild looking blooms - courtesy of Little Lady Blooms.
What made the wedding personal to you?
We both really love to be in nature, spend time with our families and our wonderful friends, so our wedding was perfect for us!
What were you most nervous or excited about?
I was bursting with excitement to marry Stu, and celebrate it with a big and fun party. I was most nervous about having so many eyes on me walking down the aisle, and how we were going to handle the 37 degree heat on the day!
Did you DIY any elements?
We did our own place cards and that was about it. We had such a great team around us that made the day happen!
Now, the most important part - the Dress!
Who was the designer? Fiona Claire
My beautiful dress was also my dream dress! Fiona’s dresses are so elegant, timeless and simple. Something that modern weddings can overlook. It was a crepe silk high neck and low back dress, with a slight train & fit perfectly!
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
Being pronounced husband and wife!
What does marriage mean to you?
Committing to being kind, supportive and communicative with each other.
Something New? My dress!
Something Old? An emerald ring I wore which belonged to Stu’s great grandmother.
Something Borrowed? My veil which was my sister’s.
Something Blue? Eep - I regret forgetting to add the something blue!
Anything words of wisdom you can pass onto future brides & grooms?
Have the wedding that you both want to have and make sure it’s day that reflects this. Don’t worry about the small things but make sure you have amazing food and lots of it! Same goes with champagne!
