LOVE // Olive & Jason

We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. I was meant to be in Africa and he, overseas in London. However, as life would have it, we both found ourselves in Brisbane celebrating with our beloved friend. He was standing outside and I waltzed past him on a serious mission to find one of my dear friends. It was a very confident yet sweet, “Hello, how are you?”, and that was all it took…

We got to know each other on a friendship level first and were very intentional about our time spent alone together. We both knew we were very interested in getting to know each other on a deeper level but learnt a lot about each other in a very pure and innocent way by remaining friends before anything. We dated for a little while before he asked me to marry him. Love at it's finest! It is the most beautiful thing we have both come across. In all it's fullness, all you really need is love. With love and each-other, you can change the world.

Jason took me to a beautiful timber cabin in the middle of a national park surrounded by nothing but landscape, wildlife and the most beautiful view you could ever imagine. He had our friends, Chloe and Caleb set up the place with an abundance of candles and the most decadent flowers you could fit in one space. He cooked my favourite meal for me and we had a delicious bottle of red wine. We chatted, prayed, laughed and shed lots of happy tears.

The next morning he woke me up with my favourite brownies from I Heart Brownies. It was my birthday and he gave me gifts which deterred the thought of any sort of ring dreaming. However he then sat me down and side by side, he asked me to be with him forever. I was in awe! A little bit of “Oh my, is this really happening?!” and a whole lot of Yes’s!

It was so much more than just “the day” for us. We had 40 of our closest friends and immediate family members fly from Australia to stay with us on the Amalfi Coast in Sorrento. The days leading up to the big day was filled with love and selfless acts of how people could help out in preparation for the wedding, all while we cooked and feasted over wood fired pizzas and sipped on the most beautiful Italian wines.

The day of the wedding was absolutely out of this world. I don’t even have the right words to describe how perfect it was.

I spent the morning in a beautiful villa with my mother, maid of honour and bridesmaids while my dear friends were bringing me platters of food, gifts and coffee. I felt like a real life princess! The atmosphere was nothing but pure love and the ever-present feeling of peace. I was blissed out in happiness and was either crying or giggling from the abundance of joy I was feeling.

It’s hard to pick a favourite memory or moment from our day as everything was absolutely perfect and more than I could have ever dreamt or imagined. However, if I had to pick one moment it would be our first kiss. We had never kissed each other before our wedding day as we really wanted to save it for marriage and for one another. Coming in close second was having communion together straight after we said our vows and became husband and wife. It was really important for us to honour God for everything He has done in our lives and to glorify His goodness. So we did just that!

After the ceremony, we feasted over the most amazing menu, and the reception was filled with dancing, dancing and more dancing with the last boogy finishing at 3:00 AM in the morning.

The whole wedding week is a time I could re-live again and again a thousand times over.
