TELL US YOUR LOVE STORY
How did you meet?
When I was in high school, I moved from NSW to a small town in WA and met Josh through mutual friends. We started dating when I graduated and then spent our first year in a long distance relationship as I was moving to the city for Uni! The rest is history!
How did he put a ring on it?
He was a little bit sneaky and told me there was a family gathering and that his parents were going to be flying over from QLD for it, so we should stay there as well (on a work night). Little did I know, this was all just to throw me off! He completely surprised me with a night in a hotel overlooking the ocean and proposed to me during a gorgeous sunset stroll along the beach
WHERE DID YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FROM?
I started following a lot of elopement/adventurous wedding photographers on Instagram and I had seen some beautiful mountain weddings before. I just knew that a mountain wedding would be for us as it just seemed so magical to be out in nature for the wedding. It really suited us as we spend a lot of our holidays snowboarding on beautiful mountains.
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING THEME & STYLE?
We didn’t really have a theme but the look I wanted to achieve was an effortless/boho-chic style as I think the scenery adds all the necessary detail!
WHAT MADE THE WEDDING PERSONAL TO YOU?
Getting married with just our closest family and friends was so intimate and truly special. We all stayed together at Mountain Chalet Pia, a gorgeous private chalet in the Dolomites, which had the most incredible view and it was just an amazing few days!
WHAT WERE YOU MOST NERVOUS OR EXCITED ABOUT?
I was just so excited to see Josh’s face as I was walking out to him and I suppose just a little nervous about tripping over my dress along the walk around the lake!
DID YOU DIY ANY ELEMENTS?
We wrote our whole ceremony script! Our legal wedding was required to take place in the town hall with the Italian civil ceremony script, but we were free to write our own script for wedding as it was a symbolic wedding after our legal wedding! This was quite tough to get started on but I really loved the process and it turned out really nice.
NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT PART - THE DRESS!
Tell us about your dress?
My dress was The Tara by Grace Loves Lace! I fell in love with this dress years ago and knew it would be the one! All of the Grace Loves Lace dresses are incredible and I wish I could get married to Josh over and over, each time in a different one of their dresses!
WHO WAS THE DESIGNER? Grace Loves Lace
WHERE WHERE YOUR BRIDESMAID DRESSES FROM?
Our wedding was so intimate that we really didn’t need bridesmaids and groomsmen! All of our guests filled those roles together.
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT FROM YOUR DAY?
One of the funniest moments was when we were trying to take nice photos with the pink smoke bombs while slowly running back and forth and all the while being careful not to trip over my dress, not let the colour get on my dress or Josh’s jacket, and not let the smoke bombs burn down too low so as not to burn our hands! Haha!
WHAT DOES MARRIAGE MEAN TO YOU?
Marriage means that you’ve found that little bit of your soul that you didn’t even know was missing until they fill it for you; it means sharing the journey of life together, and loving them for who they are now and who they are yet to become in the future.
The wedding detailed glassware we gifted to all of our friends and family, to toast on our engagement party!
The white ribbon from my flowers was my beautiful Mum’s from her wedding day.
My gorgeous cousin was also my hairdresser and makeup artist who so kindly leant her skills for my wedding day.
Hmm, can I say the turquoise-blue lake itself?
Any words of wisdom you can pass onto future brides & grooms?
Spend more on the honeymoon than the wedding, it will last longer! ;) xx
