TELL US YOUR LOVE STORY
How did you meet? At Uni, we’ve never really spoken to each other until the very last year at uni. 3 months later, after graduation, we decided to move to Australia, and we never came back.
How did he put a ring on it? He took me to Hamilton Island, by surprise, on a 4 days holiday he had previously got approval from my boss for! I had absolutely no idea!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDING
We wanted a classy but not over-the-top wedding, rustic-chic. All the way, our focus was on entertaining our guests and making sure they would be having fun!
WHERE DID YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FROM?
Pinterest has been my best friend.
WHAT MADE THE WEDDING PERSONAL TO YOU?
We only invited the people we love! We also worked on a few DIY details. The personal investment both of our mums put it the planning of our wedding definitely made it personal.
WHAT WERE YOU MOST NERVOUS OR EXCITED ABOUT?
The entry in Church, we decided not to see each other before and to keep the surprise until church. We were excited about each other’s reaction.
DID YOU D.I.Y ANY ELEMENTS?
YES! We designed our own invitations, menus, escort cards. The escort-cards table, floorplan on a mirror, photo backdrop… were DIY.
NOW, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART - THE DRESS! TELL US ABOUT IT.
I gathered design ideas for about a year, tried dresses in pretty much all bridal shops from Sydney to Paris. After that time, I knew exactly what I wanted, I could picture it in my head so well. I wanted it romantic, pure, light, sexy and vaporous at the same time, with a looooong train. I also wanted to feel free to dance in my dress, hence the removable train. I met with Jenni and we drew it together.
WHOW WAS YOUR WEDDING DRESS DESIGNER?
Jennifer Go Bridal. I had made my “Civil Wedding” dress with her already and I was really excited to work with her again. She is so patient and flexible. After 4 or 5 appointments, I left the Wedding Boutique with my dress in hands and my head full of dreams, so excited about what I would look like.
WHERE WERE YOUR BRIDESMAID DRESSES FROM?
I only gave them a color: peach, and they were free to purchase it from wherever they want, in the design, shape and shade that would suit their bodies best. They were so beautiful because they chose a dress that they felt good in!
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT FROM YOUR DAY?
I have so many of them: from the lunch with my family in my childhood home, to the preparation with all my bridesmaids, my entry in the church with my dad (such an emotional moment), our exit from the church, when we were so excited that we ran out! The way to the reception Chateau in our old Peugeot car, when Jeff was taking the wrong side of the road (yes, dear, they drive on the right in France), the cocktail reception that happened too fast because we were so happy to see everyone, or the dancing part, that ended up at 8am, watching the sunrise with all of our friends.
But the most memorable moment was probably our entry into the dinner tent: the saxophonist was on fire, our 320 guests were jumping around and dancing on their chairs, and we just ran around and danced like there is no tomorrow for a good 30min. We fed from our guests energy and they fed from ours all night long!
WHAT DOES MARRIAGE MEAN TO YOU?
It is the promise we make and renew to one another, to spend our lives together and build a family.
Something New? My Repetto Shoes, so comfortable! I walked, ran, jumped and danced with them for a good 15 hours without feeling any pain!
Something Old? My mum’s veil, so simple and yet so beautiful. It was so well kept for 30 years!
Something Borrowed? My veil as well, I guess.
Something Blue? We draw a little blue dot under my shoes. For the sake of it…
ANY WORDS OF WISDOM FOR FUTURE BRIDES & GROOMS?
The wedding prep is intense, there is so much to organise and so many details to think about. There will be things missed, and this is the way it is. To the brides: forget about the organisation 2 days prior to the wedding day, take time to pamper yourself and spend quality time with your loved ones, get some advice from your grand-ma, laugh with your sisters/ bridemaids, eat healthy... On the day of your wedding, forget about the details and focus your full attention to the people around you, they are here because they love you. And ENJOY yourself! Have fun, this is YOUR day!
