Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
We met during the Melbourne Cup Carnival on 10/11/12. We were introduced by one of my friends who then stood by my side as one of my bridesmaids at our wedding. It was a total setup with my friend forcing me to talk to Dean and giving Dean my number without me knowing…luckily he texted me that night and 6 and a ½ years on we are married!
How did he put a ring on it?
We went to Adelaide to celebrate our 5th anniversary with a weekend full of our favourite things – wineries and food. Whilst we were away Dean’s friend decorated our house with photos and rose petals where Dean proposed on our arrival home.
Where did you draw inspiration from?
We both knew we wanted our wedding to be in a wine region in Victoria. Having stayed at Stones of the Yarra Valley before we knew it was perfect and ticked our must-have boxes of beautiful venue, good food and good wine. For the styling and sourcing our suppliers I drew upon Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration.
What was your wedding theme & style?
We wanted the day to be timeless and romantic whilst still being modern. The barn at Stones can be quite rustic so we wanted to bring in clean and lush styling to modernize the space.
What made the wedding personal to you?
Having all of our family and friends in one place made for the best party we could have hoped for!
What were you most nervous or excited about?
I was most nervous about the ceremony. I am quite shy so the thought of all those eyes on me was pretty daunting. Our amazing celebrant Megan made us feel so comfortable and the ceremony turned into one of my favourite parts of the day! It was a celebration of all the things that make us, us and the reasons we are now married.
Now, the most important part - the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
My dress was modern and minimal with angular lines to create a halter neckline and key hole back with beautiful beaded lace details. A trumpet skirt and my veil added a little extra drama. It was so comfy to wear and I danced the night away with ease!
Who was the designer?
I customized a Chosen by One Day Bridal gown to minimise busy seam lines and add the beautiful beaded lace in the back. It took the dress for beautiful to perfect and the girls at One Day Bridal were a dream to work with.
Where were your bridesmaid dresses from? The girls wore dresses from the Bec & Bridge Wedding Edit.
Where were the groom and groomsmen suits from? Dean’s tuxedo and the boy’s suits were from Arthur Galan.
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
It’s hard to choose just one moment. As I mentioned we both absolutely loved our ceremony. We also loved hearing the words of our families and friends during their speeches and tearing up the dancefloor later in the night!
What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage has formalised our commitment to a lifetime of love, friendship and the start of our own little family.
Something New? My dress!
Something Old, borrowed and blue? My grandmother’s eternity ring which features blue sapphires.
Anything words of wisdom you can pass onto future brides & grooms? It’s been said a thousand times before but it is so true. The day goes WAY too fast! Take the time to look around the room and realise that it is full of the people you love the most and who are here to support you both. But most of all make sure you take time with each other, after all that is the whole reason you are there!
