WHAT INSPIRED THE AESTHETIC THAT BO & LUCA HAS BECOME KNOWN FOR?
I have always lived my life as a bit of a bohemian, I have been travelling the world from the age of 19 and have never looked back. I love culture and heritage and I wanted to combine this and create pieces that are free in movement and are an effortless luxury. The pieces are for the free spirited women who dress for themselves. Silhouettes are Inspired by the free flowing 70s bohemia adding a hint of the 1920's/ 30's chic.
WHY IS YOUR PRIMARY FABRICATION SILK?
I love the fluidity and the movement of silk and the way it feels on your skin rich in its luxurious texture. I feel that if you are to wear any fabric on your wedding day it should be silk.
WHY DO YOU PRODUCE YOUR GOWNS IN INDIA?
India is rich in culture and in its artisanal work. I first fell in love with the artistry of hand embroidery when I lived in Dubai and trained with an Indian tailor. The way that the indian artisans can manipulate fabric is unseen anywhere else in the world. We have
a specialist team who create the most exquisite pieces.
WHO ARE SOME OF THE BUSES FOR YOUR WEDDING DRESSES,
DESCRIBE THE BO & LUCA WOMAN?
There are many women from different decades who have been a muse to the brand, a women who are legends in their chosen field of expression (artists, musicians, political, fashion icons) women who held their voice through history, most importantly women who inspire other women on daily basis. Jacqueline Kennedy, Nina
Simone, Talitha Getty, Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot. Vanessa Paradis
WHO ARE SOME WOMEN WHO INSPIRE YOU?
There are certain women in my life who for different reasons inspire me as a woman to continue to grow. There are women in business, who push boundaries each and every day, who work endlessly hard to turn their dreams into reality, there are mothers who give up careers to raise children, there are grandmothers who love endlessly without judgment and their are women in the world who raise their voice where others cannot. It’s not necessarily any particular woman I can name, but the spirit and energy of many women I know inspire me everyday.
WHAT GAVE YOU THE INSTINCT TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
When I started my business I was a little naive, I had no clue on how a business worked or how to run a business. What I did have was drive and determination and a definite vision of what I wanted to create. I visualised each and every fragment of the brand and worked back from there. If you love what you do and you have passion you can create anything, I truly believe this.
WHAT WOULD BE SOME WORDS OF WISDOM THAT YOU WOULD TELL THE YOUNGER YOU?
Work with someone that you trust in business and ask them to mentor you from the very beginning, soak up all of their knowledge. Most importantly trust in my own abilities and instincts because its this intuitive decision making that will get you to where you need to go.
